Education

For the last 17 years, I have worked in public education. I have been a classroom teacher, school counselor, and district registrar. Currently, I hold an Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling from Jacksonville State University.

As a former elementary teacher at Ider High School, I had the pleasure of teaching math and science to 6th grade students for 10 years. During my tenure, I developed a deep passion for helping young minds to grow and develop by creating engaging lesson plans and activities that made these subjects fun and accessible. I worked closely with my colleagues to develop new and innovative teaching strategies that helped to enhance the learning experience for all students at Ider High School.

At Valley Head High school I was the K-12 school counselor. I had the privilege of supporting students in their academic and personal growth for 4 years. During my tenure, I worked closely with students to help them achieve their goals, whether that be getting into their desired college or navigating personal struggles. I also collaborated with teachers and staff to provide a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Currently I am the district registrar and Power School Enrollment developer for the DeKalb County Board of Education for the past four years, I have played a crucial role in managing student records and ensuring that enrollment processes run smoothly. With my expertise in Power School Enrollment and my attention to detail, I have been able to streamline registration procedures and improve the overall efficiency of the district's student information system. As district registrar, I am responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records for all students within the district, while also providing excellent customer service to parents and guardians.
